SharePoint Server 2007 evaluation version message

When clicking on “User Profiles and properties” link in the Shared Services Administration home page (or maybe in some other locations also), you get the error “The evaluation version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for this server has expired.”  You can solve this as follows:

  • registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Office Server\12.0
    • WSS_WPG Read permissions,
    • WSS_ADMIN_WPG Full permissions
  • Add the application pool identity for the SSP web app to the “Distributed COM Users”
  • IISRESET /noforce

Got this solution from http://blogs.msdn.com/joelo/archive/2008/01/02/evaluation-version-expired-but-not-really.aspx
